Torrey Pines Golf Course
Torrey Pines boasts two of the most picturesque championship 18-hole golf courses in the world. Situated atop cliffs towering above the Pacific Ocean, golfers marvel at the views of the coastline and deep ravines, and nature lovers can spot the famous Torrey Pines trees that are indigenous to the area and for which the course is named. Torrey Pines is a well-known PGA Tour stop with the Buick Invitational held every January or February.
Torrey Pines is only the second municipal golf course ever selected to host this prestigious golf event. The Black Course at Bethpage, N.Y. was the first in 2002. The U.S. Open, the second-oldest USGA championship by a single day, is the jewel of USGA competitions. The event has evolved into one of the most prestigious championships played.
South Course
The South Course, which boasts dramatic coastline views as well as some of the most challenging golf in the country, was designed by William F. Bell and redesigned by Rees Jones in 2001. It is now a par 72 course at 7,607 yards in length from the back tees. See a map of the course
